Most internet marketers realise that when they start a blog it opens many avenues for them . If you are serious about internet marketing I would highly recommend that you create a blog. What is a blog? Simply put a blog is a website where one can post comments. It is more or less organic as opposed to a static website that doesn`t have posts, just pages. When I write a post on my blog I can be interactive with my readers. I can write a post on a subject and my readers have the option to make a comment.
WordPress. is considered by many to be the best blogging platform. WordPress hosts 75 million blogs and 50,000 websites are started every day using wordpress. I hope you will agree that weight of numbers is recommendation enough regarding which platform you should choose for your blog.
Start a Blog – What Niche?
The top niches are considered to be Wealth, Health, and Dating. Of course there are many sub categories that come under these three main evergreen categories but if you are starting a blog and need to pick a niche then you won`t go far wrong by picking one of the above. Internet Marketing which comes under the “Wealth” category is an excellent niche to become involved with. Much like the other two niches it is highly competitive but be assured competition is a good sign as competitors invariably only go where there is big money to be had.
Once you have decided on which platform your website/blog will be hosted on the next step is to choose a hosting company company. I highly recommend hostgator. Hostgator has been around since 2002 and has won many awards for the services they offer. As of 2013 they had hosted 9 million domains and had 400,000 customers. There are of course other hosting companies but none of them compare to hostgator in my humble opinion.
Hostgator have 24/7 365 technical support, free site building tools and 4.500 website templates. Pricing starts from $3.95 a month for their Hatchling Plan which allows one domain but for $5.95 a month for their Baby Plan you can host unlimited domains. All about trust.. Your goal once you have set up your blog is to build trust with your blog visitors. Like any relationship trust can sometimes take a while to build so don`t expect immediate results as it may take time before your blog visitors gain trust in you.
By having your own blog you can build a brand and having that brand can lead to many ways of monetizing your blog. Google Adsense is one method. The way it works is that you place adsense ads on your blog, strategically placed and when someone clicks on one of the ads you earn a percentage of the revenue google has charged the company whose ad has been clicked on. This commission can vary from a few cents up to many dollars but it is a recognised and simple way of earning money via your blog. There are many other similar companies where you can earn money for ads being clicked on.
When you start a blog it is a great way to make new friends apart from the great potential you will have to build an income from your blog. I mentioned previously wordpress and the fact it hosts 75 million blogs. One of things I love most about wordpress is that it is sooo flexible. Apart from the scores of free themes you can choose from which generally relates to the appearance of your blog you can also add widgets. One widget I use to great effect on my blog is Yoast SEO Premium.
The way that Yoast SEO Premium works is that when you write a post or page on your blog if you scroll down you will see the word Analysis. Underneath there you will see a list of bullet points. Next to each bullet point there will be a category starting with Focus Keyword and so on with a piece of advice next to each one for example next to Focus Keyword the advice might be that “your FK contains a stop word, this might or not be wise depending on the circumstances”… In other words you might want to remove or replace it. One of the things I also love about Yoast SEO Premium is that as you are writing your blog post or page is that you can refer to the analysis in real-time and correct any errors you have made at that stage.
